On Monday 11th April Meadows held an Auction and entertainments evening, in aid of the Bulgarian Orphanage Project.

Performers included Alone Me, Brook Ensemble and Debbie Nunn.

John the Juggler also helped to entertain the crowds for the evening, as did the Canvey Island Line Dancing Club.

This money is being used to bring 10 orphans over from Berkovitsa, to take part in the One World Chelmsford event on 30th April 2005.

This is a fantastic opportunity for these children to perform a traditional Bulgarian song and dance.

The children will also get to take a trip to London with the BOP Team to see the sights.

The charity event on Monday raised £1,250, so thank you to everyone who attended the event, donated prizes and helped to organise this fantastic event.

Every year Meadows collects food to send over to the Balkans as part of Harvest for the Hungry (H4H).

Last year, 68 tonnes of food were sent by Meadows, which was 1/3rd of all total food aid sent.

When the team delivers the aid they also visit an Orphanage in Berkovitsa, Bulgaria, where they have now helped to raise money for new toilets, classrooms and showers for the children.

This year Malcolm Tilsed (Centre Manager) will be visiting the orphanage in November, for his 5th time. A charity has now been set up for this orphanage and Meadows continue to raise funds for the Bulgarian Orphanage Project (BOP) throughout the year.

Meadows has invited 10 children over from the orphanage for the 'One World' event taking place on Saturday 30th April.
This is a fantastic oportunity for the children and there will be an event on Monday 11th April to raise money to help fund their trip. Look out for further details on the 'This Week' page or contact Malcolm Tilsed on 01245 346266.
